This RI Bakery Turns Party Pizza into an Artform
Tom Brady never looked so good.

Whether it’s for a holiday, birthday or any other special occasion, Eric Palmieri at D. Palmieri’s Bakery in Johnston, can turn a party pizza into a work of art. The idea started out with a basic American flag design for the Fourth of July, and now his pizza art is the big cheese in Rhode Island. Palmieri creates custom pizzas ranging from cartoon characters, superheroes and unicorns and even replicas of furry friends. For football season, he crafts Patriots-themed pies. With no prior art background, Palmieri designs entirely free-handed using only food ingredients. “The whole fun of it for me is finding ways to use the actual ingredients to generate the design without food coloring or stencils or props or anything like that,” he says. But above all, his favorite part about pizza art is not the design at all. It’s about the positive reaction from customers. “Seeing the response from people saying things like, ‘Wow I’ve never seen anything like this,’ or even if I am able to just put a smile on someone’s face for a day, that’s more than worth it for me to do this.” For more information or to place Super Bowl orders, contact D.
