The Holiday-Themed Miracle Bar is Popping Up at Gilligan’s Pub
Gilligan’s Pub in Providence transforms into a holiday wonderland.
Miracle Bar is coming to Providence.
Miracle Bar, the Christmas cocktail pop-up bar, is landing in Providence on November 16 at Gilligan’s Pub in Providence. The movement started in 2014 in New York City when a bar owner decided to halt construction of his East Village bar and transform the space into a holiday pop-up serving Christmas-themed cocktails in an atmosphere all decked out with kitschy decor. The movement has expanded globally, inviting bars to adopt the concept and lean into over-the-top yuletide finery. Christmas-themed specialty cocktail recipes and charming keepsake glassware are part of the premise.
Gilligan’s Pub owner Amanda Fullam applied to host Miracle Bar at her Providence bar since she always enjoys decorating for the holidays. This year, there are more than 200 Miracle Bar locations across the globe and Gilligan’s is the only Rhode Island location. Guests can experience Miracle cocktails and take-home glassware (with purchase), like an iconic Santa face mug or dinosaur tiki mugs topped with Santa hats.

The bars gather and display their own decor by scouting vintage shops and borrowing items from friends and family. “We’re in charge of our own decorations, but I already had a pretty good collection because I love decorating for Christmas,” Fullam says. “We went even bigger this year. We have large pieces displayed outside and the focal point is the ceiling.”
As for the cocktails, Miracle Bar provides an unbranded menu, and bars target the drink recipes to local spirits, including some of Fullam’s favorites, like Rhodium. “All the drinks are holiday inspired. We have housemade eggnog and a Christmapolitan,” Fullam says. She has already been immersed in the holiday spirit for months. Now that Miracle Bar is almost here, she’s happy to spread good cheer. “It’s very joyous and happy and sparkly,” she says. “And I think that’s what everyone needs right now.”
