Get Back Into the Holiday Spirit with Ice Jam
From ice sculptures on the pedestrian bridge to indulging in food truck fare in the “warm-up tent,” Ice Jam is a celebration of winter in Providence.
On Saturday, January 28 from 1–8:30 p.m, rediscover downtown Providence as it is transformed into a whimsical wonderland fit to melt the winter blues. A collaboration between District Park, Aloft Hotel, the City of Providence Parks Department and Downtown Providence Parks Network, Ice Jam is an icy adventure through the city for the entire family to enjoy. Rekindle the spirit of the holiday season with ice sculptures, light installations, delicious food and drink pairings provided by the Guild Providence Beer Garden and other partnering food trucks, “Winter Wonder Walks” and more.
Begin by taking a walk on the illuminated pedestrian bridge, activated with ice sculptures, dazzling light displays and inflatable art courtesy of Pneuhaus Studios. Meet familiar frozen friends and read a seasonal story with nonprofit organization Books are Wings before entering the “warm-up tent” to turn up the heat with a drink and a bite to eat. Also snuggle up by the cardboard fire and listen to comforting songs by The Rainbow Beard Show, or get hands-on with an ice-themed craft project.
Around 4–8 p.m., stroll over to the neighboring Aloft Hotel’s WXYZ lounge to check out guitarist Nolan Leite and local artist Niko Tolentino while sipping on the hotel’s signature icy cocktails for a night cap.
