This Wednesday night, guests will get to sample tasting dishes from some of Rhode Island best chefs, who are each being paired with a local farm. FeedRI’s inaugural fundraiser, the Field to Fork Farmers Market, takes place on Wed., Aug. 19 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Johnson & Wales University Culinary Arts Museum for an evening celebrating local food, with proceeds benefiting FeedRI’s Feed the Future school pantry program.

Guests will wander from table to table sampling dishes while supporting a good cause. “Each farm will provide the chef with a box of local produce or meat to create samples and attendees who purchase tickets will be able to taste all of the food,” says Maesh Bazarsky, who works for FeedRI. “All of the funds raised from this event will go directly towards our Feed the Future program. We recently opened our nineteenth pantry and plan to open five more this year.”

FeedRI is a nonprofit based in Rumford that rescues surplus food through its Hope Market, an income-friendly market open to the public. They also run Hope on the Rhode, which is a food delivery service for nonprofits that serves community meals, and Feed the Future, a school food pantry program. Feed RI currently operates nineteen pantries where students and families can take what they need for free.
