Experience an old-fashion Christmas celebrated across the centuries within the walls of a 200-year-old family home.

Travel back in time to a Victorian-style Christmas at the historic Hearthside House. Wander through the mansion’s three floors adorned with lights, garland staircases and the presence of Santa.

Guests are welcomed to join for a self-guided tour on December 9–10 from 1–4:30 p.m., or opt for a guided tour on December 28 and December 30, led by a guide dressed in period attire, from 4:30-7:30 p.m.

The mansion will be decked out in festive decorations both inside and outside, capturing the spirit of the season. Explore themed rooms featuring trees and windows covered by wreaths, providing the perfect backdrop for memorable photos.

Soak up the sounds of holiday music echoing through each room while savoring refreshments like hot cider and homemade cookies from the kitchen. Cozy by the fireplace and learn the rich history and Christmas traditions of the eleven families that once called Hearthside home.

Conveniently located right next door is the “Hot Potato Schoolhouse,” hosting Christmas in the Schoolhouse. School children will sing carols and recite poems in a thirty minute 19th century style performance on Sunday, December 10, from 12-4:30 p.m.

Don’t miss the 200th anniversary celebration of the beloved Christmas poem Twas the Night Before Christmas. Pamela McColl, author of The Art & History of Twas the Night, will join Hearthside and the Butterfly Mill for a book talk and reading of the poem, along with a house tour and cocktail reception on Tuesday, December 12, from 6:30-9:30 p.m.

All event proceeds will go towards supporting the preservation, protection, and promotion of Hearthside’s legacy and other historic properties, including the Hannaway Blacksmith Shop, Pullen’s Corner Schoolhouse, and Moffett Mill.
