Kick off the holiday season in the heart of the Creative Capital with InDowncity‘s annual Celebrate Downcity event. Held on Small Business Saturday — a.k.a. the Saturday after Thanksgiving, which this year falls on November 25 — the event brings together Providence’s small businesses to craft a fun and festive experience complete with indoor and outdoor shopping, dining, live music, interactive holiday entertainment and more.

On the dining side, guests can dig in to offerings from local vendors like A Mano Pizza and Gelato, Mac Daddy, Farm to Sandwich and Cultrō, as well as outdoor cafe-style seating in the street accompanied by festive tunes. For those looking to dine in-doors, downtown favorites like Small Point Cafe, Sura, Kleos, Little City Coffee and Kitchen, Serendipity Gourmet and the Malted Barely will all be waiting with warm welcomes and dishes.

Westminster Street, which will be closed to traffic throughout the event, will also play host to photo ops with Kris Kringle himself as well as other interactive holiday characters by Ten 31 Productions.

But if you’re hoping to get a jump on your holiday shopping, the carefully curated indoor Rock and Roll Yard Sale holiday market awaits you just a block away on Eddy Street. There you can enjoy holiday music and sip on drinks from Trinity Brewhouse while you browse through unique records, art, jewelry and other wares from local vendors. But if you have other items to tick off your list, you can also head inside surrounding shops like Craftland, Queen of Hearts and Modern Love, Symposium Books and Records, The Vault Collective, Civil, Homestyle and Eno Fine Wines. Each shop offers a variety of one-of-a-kind gift options, including skateboards, bestselling books, vintage clothing, children’s toys, housewares and more.

“We celebrate our local small business community every day, but on Small Business Saturday, we shine extra light on all the wonderful shops and restaurants that make our city so special,” says Joanna Levitt, Director of Commercial Leasing and Marketing for Cornish Associates and InDowncity. “This year, we are so fortunate to partner with incredible shops, food vendors, restaurants, entertainers, and our friends Chris and Jennifer Daltry who organize the Providence Rock and Roll Yard Sale. Celebrate Downcity 2023 will once again bring a family-friendly holiday experience to downtown to kick off the season.”

Celebrate Downcity will be held on Westminster Street–between Eddy Street and Union Street–in downtown Providence on Saturday, November 25, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, visit indowncity.com.
