Get Some Back-to-School Fashion Inspiration from Local Shops
A Rhode Island-based style team gathered goods from local shops for a fashion shoot starring Westerly kids.

Hair stylist and creative director Chelsea Pacheco, based in Rhode Island, led a team of local collaborators to put together a back-to-school fashion shoot. Pacheco has worked with top networks and brands including Bravo, “The Today Show,” Sephora, Living Proof, Freeform and the WNBA. After spending many years developing her career in New York City, Pacheco returned home to Rhode Island to bring big city-style opportunities to the Ocean State. She launched Rhode Lookbook, a dynamic platform that merges her industry expertise with her passion for cultivating new talent. The initiative offers a launchpad for aspiring models, actors and creatives, especially those without formal representation, to gain real-world experience through styled productions like this one.
“My broader mission is to create more opportunities for Rhode Island creatives, especially youth, to shine locally, without feeling like they have to leave the state to pursue careers in fashion, entertainment or media,” Pacheco says. “I’ve worked on campaigns with brands like Ulta, Bravo, NBC’s ‘Today Show,’ Sports Illustrated, Sephora and I’m currently working on a Hulu reality show, but Rhode Island is where my heart is, and where I want to invest.”
The talent for her “Back to School” fashion shoot includes kids and young adults from the Westerly school system, who are active in theater groups, including United Music School and Theatre Scrapbook, as well as Westerly athletics (basketball, cheerleading, football). The young adult wardrobe was sourced from Rhode Island boutiques by Rachel Intrieri (follow her at @shopriboutiques), and the children’s items were gathered by Tara Barkovitz of Wildflower Kids RI (@wildflowerkidsRI).
