Get a Double Dose of Nostalgia with New Rocky Point Chowder House at the Warwick Mall

It’s no secret that a majority of longtime Rhody residents dearly miss Rocky Point. In fact, we dedicated an entire cover feature to the beloved amusement park earlier this year. Overwhelmingly, one of the biggest nostalgia points has been the Shore Dinner Hall eats. While a couple shacks with the Rocky Point name and menu popped up in the years since the park officially shuttered in the 90s, they unfortunately met a similar fate as their predecessor int the aughts.

But now, after more than a decade of merely dreaming about the flavors of summers past, the iconic Rocky Point Chowder House is not just returning to Little Rhody — under the same operation as the shack that once stood next to the old Ann and Hope on Post Road, mind you — but it’s also joining forces with another storied local establishment: the one and only Warwick Mall.

“We’re thrilled to bring a piece of Rhode Island history home,” says general manager Domenic Schiavone, who also grew up visiting park with his family. “Rocky Point holds such a special place in the hearts of our community. Having the Chowder House here at Warwick Mall connects nostalgia with today’s experiences, it’s something truly special for longtime locals and new visitors alike.”

Housed in the mall’s food court, the restaurant will kick things off in early December. The grand opening will, according to Schiavone, offer up a few fun surprises, including interactive photo opportunities with the Rocky Point lobster and appearances of authentic memorabilia original to the park.

“And of course the opening menu will feature all the classics: clam cakes and chowder, doughboys, fish and chips, chicken fingers and fries for the kids, and so on,” says Schiavone. “One of the gentlemen involved in the cooking worked even at Rocky Point back in the day. It’s the real deal.”
