Enjoy one of the best views the Ocean State has to offer on June 7 as Newport’s Ocean Drive is car free from 9 a.m. to noon.

“Elliot’s Ride for Everyone” is hosted by Bike Newport and the Kaminitz family in honor of Elliot Kaminitz, who lost his life on Memorial Boulevard in 2012 while riding his bike. This annual open-road celebration of safe cycling and community fun is meant to showcase the enjoyment and freedom that is possible when spaces such as the historic Ocean Drive are made car free. The scenic drive features some of Rhode Island’s most beautiful sights, from Goose Neck Salt Marsh to the rugged coastline. Whether on a bike or on your feet, this event provides the perfect opportunity to take the family out for some fun in the sun; even leashed pets are welcome to attend.

Bn 3“Elliot’s Ride is an absolute favorite for everyone,” says Bari Freeman, Bike Newport’s founder and executive director. “This chance to ride happily and safely without cars and in a most beautiful location tickles everyone’s interest to plan for safe biking and walking.”
