Experience the dreams and sacrifices of the Jazz Age with Blues for an Alabama Sky, a story of hardships, consequences and resilience. Pearl Cleage’s play tells the story of four friends during the intersection of the Harlem Renaissance and the Great Depression, whose lives change forever when Leland Cunningham meets troubled blues singer Angel. Porch Tunes: Providence Porchfest

Eat Up: Taste of Rhode Island Summer Showcase

Furry Friends: Paws & Listen Music Festival

Join Bigger Beast Records and the Providence Animal Rescue League for this all-new event combining music, storytelling and animal rescue. Featuring nine singer-songwriters, each musician will be paired with one rescue animal from the PARL in need of a home. The duo will bond, sharing their journey on social media, and at the end of the week performers will sing a song inspired by that animal. Come celebrate the power of music and compassion at The Guild and support a vital piece of the New England animal rescue community. Historical Happenings: Gaspee Days
JUNE 14–15
Celebrate the state’s rich history during the annual Gaspee Days celebration. Kick off the weekend with the Gaspee Days Parade, a two-mile march that’s been happening since 1965. The next day come watch the Blessing of the Fleet, open to all boat owners, and the Burning of the Gaspee, a reenactment of one of the first acts of defiance against the British. History in Bloom: The Newport Flower Show: “A Floral Fair”

This year’s Newport Flower show will honor the legacy of Rosecliff’s original owner, Theresa Fair Oelrichs. Drawing inspiration from her 1913 fairy-tale-inspired dinner party, displays will create a feeling of imagination and elegance, reminiscent of a cheerful summer country fair of the Gilded Age. “Paws & Listen” Music Festival
JUNE 14: A collaboration between Bigger Beast Records and Providence Animal Rescue League has created the Paws & Listen Music Festival, benefiting PARL and celebrating adopted animals! Nine singer-songwriters, including headliner Lee DeWyze, will team up with adoptable animals at PARL to create original songs inspired by their furry companions. Over three months, they’ll share their journey on social media to help each pet find a forever home. Free general admission.
