The Gloria Gemma Center for Cancer Survivorship & Wellbeing ffers comprehensive therapy and support services for all cancer patients.
The Gloria Gemma Center for Cancer Survivorship & Wellbeing recently opened a state-of-the-art facility in Lincoln to provide cancer patients, survivors and family members with a central space for support and services.
The center offers comprehensive therapy and support services for all cancer patients and features a multimedia classroom for programs and workshops; an interior healing garden and meditative space; a dedicated area for support groups; a movement studio for exercise programs and symptom management techniques; and a podcasting studio and coworking spaces.
“People feel lost after the trauma of cancer,” says Bryan Sawyer, chief operating officer for the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation. “The center is a central location that will fill the crucial gap in the continuum of care by providing comprehensive support services tailored to the unique needs of cancer patients, survivors and their loved ones, and we are expanding our services to all cancer types. Now, everyone touched by cancer has a welcoming and safe place to receive the support they need.”
The 11,700-square-foot building also serves as the headquarters for the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation, which was founded in 2004 to help those battling breast cancer.
The space is three times larger than its previous headquarters in Pawtucket, and only the second facility of its kind in New England, according to foundation officials. (The Dempsey Center in Maine, founded by actor Patrick Dempsey in 2008, is the other.) gloriagemma.org
