Cats Up for Adoption at Cat Lounge in Coventry
Mad Cats and More, opened this past spring, has recently begun to put cats up for adoption at its storefront on Tiogue Avenue in Coventry.

Whether you’re looking for a quiet place to lounge after work or to find your next fur-ever friend, Mad Cats and More has got you covered. Recently opened in the spring, the cat lounge is equipped with an area that houses cats up for adoption and a storefront where various pet essentials and apparel is sold.
When it opened in April, the lounge had just two cats, Zeus and Athena, owned by Mad Cats and More owner Mark Demers. Over the next few months, the organization worked to partner with an adoption agency that could provide cats up for adoption to live in the lounge until they found their forever homes. At the end of July, the organization partnered with Angels Caring for Animals, an adoption agency based out of West Warwick, and since then, there have been fourteen cat adoptions so far at the lounge.
“My favorite experience is getting all these cats adopted because this was the reason why we wanted to start the business, is to get cats out of cages and into forever homes. Now that fourteen cats have been adopted, it’s amazing and we all feel very, very good that we’re getting all these cats homed,” says Jasmine Demers, daughter of the owner and a team member at Mad Cats and More.

Even if you’re not looking to adopt a cat, Mad Cats and More is a great place to unwind after work and relax with the cats. The lounge itself has comfortable chairs, cat toys to play with the cats, and a tv in the corner that plays relaxing nature landscapes.
“[The patrons] come in for therapy because cats are so good with people,” says Jasmine.
There are currently twelve cats up for adoption at the lounge, and you can also play with Zeus and Athena, who live there full-time. If you book an hour in the lounge, you also receive a free drink and snack from the store, which are also available for purchase.
