Before feasting on your favorite Thanksgiving entrees and sides, complete a rewarding workout and support children battling cancer. To raise money for the Pediatric Oncology Department at Hasbro Children’s Hospital, CORE Fitness in Providence is hosting its seventeenth annual Thanks + Giving Turkey Throwdown on Thursday, November 28 (a.k.a. Thanksgiving Day). Participants will start off their morning with CORE’s forty-five minute bootcamp at 7:30 a.m., followed by a four-mile walk or run at 8:30 a.m. (For the late risers, there is also an option to skip the early bird workout and just participate in the walk/run.) The route for the run goes down to Blackstone Boulevard – before looping back around and returning back to CORE in the East Side of Providence.

The entry fee is $65 for the full workout or $50 for the walk/run (or $40 and $25, respectively, for ages four through twelve). 100% of the workout’s proceeds will benefit Pediatric Cancer at Hasbro Children’s. CORE’s founder, Denise Chakoian, is a stage three Hodgkin’s Lymphoma survivor and this year is celebrating more than five years of being cancer-free. She will be leading the workout and aims to reach the same donation amount as last year, which clocked in at $48,000 from 154 participants and sixty-one donors for the Lifespan Cancer Institute. If you’d like to help them reach their goal, be sure to sign up here before registration closes on Wednesday, November 27, at 9 p.m. Can’t make the workout? You are more than welcome to still make a donation to the cause here. Learn more at corefitprov.com/making-a-difference.
