House Lust: A Dreamy Riverfront Craftsman in Tiverton
Snow is on the ground, but this Sakonnet River treasure represents eternal summer.
Can you smell the salt in the air? Can you feel the cut of the cool breeze on your skin, or the warmth of the sun as it sets over the Sakonnet?
This riverfront Craftsman has been on the market for nearly two years, patiently awaiting its next owners. And I, your personal Zillow lurker, keep returning to it. (So often, in fact, that I was sure we’d featured it in our At Home column in the print Rhode Island Monthly. Nope, my art directors tell me. It was just my imagination, running away with me. It happens when you’re smitten.)
That distinct Tiverton view is the first draw. Second is the masterfully remodeled first floor. And third — a very personal attraction, as is so much of real estate — is the old-school cottage-y second floor with paneled walls, crank windows, painted floors and stunning views. In rooms like this, there’s a crispness to the light that can’t be found in a plush master suite or amenity-stocked guest room. You’re bathed in it; you absorb it and it makes everything — even you — more beautiful. It’s vacation in a room. If only we could bottle up this light and save it for a snowy day.
So here, on this cold winter’s morn, is the House Lust of your summer dreams:

The updated Craftsman, with fieldstone patio overlooking the water, has the appeal of a quiet country retreat but with stellar river views.

Kudos to the current homeowners, who ace the simple-yet-chic riverfront aesthetic in tones of green. (How gorgeous is that live-edge bed frame, by the way?)

The upstairs rooms aren't quite as remodeled as the first floor, and thankfully so. They retain all the charm of a turn-of-the-century riverfront cottage.
