Green Line Apothecary and Soda Fountain Moves to Larger Location with Drive-in Service
The Wakefield space more than doubles the pharmacy and retail area and it also accommodates a drive-in pickup service, ample parking, expanded delivery dispatch and an outdoor medicinal herb garden.
Green Line Apothecary is a pharmacy where you can pick up your prescription and a cool treat at the same time. The South County pharmacy and old-fashioned-style soda fountain recently relocated to 245 Main Street in Wakefield. It serves made-to-order soda, ice cream, shakes, floats, coffee and tea. There is also a second location at 905 North Main St. in Providence.
“I grew up around beautiful, family-run businesses, and in most of those stores were soda fountains, so it’s really important that we keep that classic, nostalgic feel that really speaks to the roots of the profession,” says company founder, CEO and director of pharmacy Christina Procaccianti, PharmD.
Green Line Apothecary is named after the Boston subway train where the company’s founders, husband-and-wife team Christina and Ken Procaccianti first met. The pharmacy was first established in 2016, and now employs more than seventy people between the two locations. The business is celebrating its fifth anniversary since opening the initial location five doors down the street from its current location. The pharmacists provide prescription and wellness services throughout the state from both locations, as well as free statewide delivery service.
“We wanted to relocate to a space that would accommodate our fast-growing business, but we didn’t want to leave Main Street, which has been so receptive and supportive of our business,” says president and chief operating officer Ken Procaccianti.
The new design of the Green Line facility more than doubles the pharmacy and retail area and it also accommodates a drive-in pickup service, ample parking, expanded delivery dispatch and an outdoor medicinal herb garden. There’s also a whole line of private label Green Line Apothecary products. The soda fountain now offers increased indoor seating, a takeout window and picnic tables.
“The building’s history as a family-owned business runs deep in Wakefield. We are looking forward to carrying on that legacy with locally-sourced products, all-natural scratch-made ice cream and much more,” says Ken Procaccianti.
