Giving Beyond the Box, a company that offers specially curated gift boxes, is working on a new project. Hope Strikes Back is a box filled with products from local businesses run by people of color. The businesses involved are Green Tenderfoot, Soulita Soap, Mesa Fresca, Tomaquag Museum, the Black Leaf Tea and Culture Company, GoTeff, Pioneer Prints, Nissi Naturals and Impact Everything.

“With Hope Strikes Back, we want to provide a bridge between businesses of color and consumers interested in economic empowerment,” saysfounder and CEO Sandra Enos.

A portion of the profit made from these boxes will go to a charity of each business’s choice. The boxes are meant to keep Rhode Islanders shopping local and to support businesses owned and operated by people of color.

“At Giving Beyond the Box, we’re trying to build a bridge between enterprises that are doing important work and consumers who are increasingly asking where their food, clothing and other products are coming from,” Enos says.

If you are interested in purchasing a Hope Strikes Back box you can order online and pick up at The Glow Cafe and Juice Bar and The Collective. Boxes are also sold at Green Tenderfoot in Pawtucket and The Collective.
