Herbs and Mylk is a woman owned small business in Rhode Island that specializes in handmade artisan soaps and lotions. The owner, Jeanette Mollis, has formulated her own recipes and uses plant-based natural ingredients like luxurious oils and butters. Jeanette thrives on community and uses local ingredients whenever possible. She infuses her soaps with herbs from local farms and gardens! Herbs and Mylk even has soap that was made with juice from another Rhode Island small business – Fully Rooted.
Jeanette started Herbs and Mylk shortly after her six month old, Mikey, had his bone marrow transplant. At a week old Mikey was diagnosed with SCID – meaning he had no immune system. Their family had to be totally free of germs and in complete isolation to avoid Mikey even catching a simple cold. At the time Jeanette was purchasing bulk cleaning supplies and soaps but wasn’t totally impressed with all of the harmful chemicals. So, she decided to formulate her own for her family. Impressed with her work she decided to start selling her soaps in order to raise money to give back to Boston Children’s Hospital where Mikey had his transplant. Herbs and Mylk was born and soon became Jeanette’s full time job. Herbs and Mylk continues to give donations to Boston Children’s Hospital, Be The Match and now Wish Come True. That is why the Herbs and Mylk holiday events on November 12 and December 17 are so important – 100% of the vendor fees and a % of Herbs and Mylk sales will be donated to Boston Children’s Hospital, Wish Come True and Be The Match.
