Now, everyone can make a difference in Rhode Island with just one click. The inaugural 401Gives, on April 1, 2020 brought in $1.3 million to 366 nonprofits across Rhode Island and in 2021 brought in almost $2.3M to 422 nonprofits. Powered by United Way of Rhode Island, 401Give brings people together to make a difference for local nonprofits that deliver vital services to our communities throughout the state. 401Gives unites and offers everyone a safe, comfortable, and familiar virtual fundraising experience all while giving nonprofits unrestricted funds that strengthen Rhode Island.

Conducted entirely using a unified online platform and social media, United Way plans to raise $4.01 million for nonprofits and in support of a wide range of causes. Throughout the day, the total of donations received will be updated on the 401Gives website.

401Gives is being supported by some of the state’s leading businesses and nonprofits, such as the presenting sponsor, Papitto Opportunity Connection, as well as Blue Cross and Blue Shield of RI and Hope Global. The Rhode Island Foundation has committed to match the first $25,000 raised at 6am, $25k at noon and then the Papitto Opportunity Connection will match the first $20,000 donations placed after 4:01pm.

“When we first had the vision to create 401Gives, none of us could have imagined today’s reality. But on April 1, we all have an opportunity to make a gift and make a difference. Every organization in our state has been affected by the current health crisis and needs help to support the strain on their operations and delivery of services,” says Cortney Nicolato, president and CEO of United Way Rhode Island.

United Way has made GiveGab available to participating nonprofits for April 1 and for the coming year to help these organizations make the most of the 401Gives campaign. For more information about 401Gives, visit the website or email 401gives@uwri.org.

Mark your calendars for April 1, 2022 as 401Gives returns in its third year and we work together to make 401Gives 2022 the biggest day of giving in Rhode Island history! Can you say $4.01 million for 500 nonprofits?
