Every dog has its day, and for more than 200 adoptable canines, that day just happens to be Saturday, Nov. 2.

That’s when the state’s dogs and puppies will gather at Clark Farms in Matunuck for Super Dog Adoption Day, where they’ll meet their potential forever families. The semiannual adoption event is one of the largest in New England and brings together dogs from thirteen registered local rescues and shelters.

Whether you’re looking for a new furry companion or maybe just need some puppy love, the November event promises a day of wet kisses and puppy snuggles. Potential adopters will have the chance to interact with the dogs in a relaxed, spacious environment as they look for that special connection.

Super Dog Adoption Day is hosted by Always Adopt, a nonprofit organization. Rhode Island Pet Rehab owner Louise Anderson Nicolosi founded the organization in 2013 to give abandoned and rescued pets a second chance at a doggone good life.

“Super Dog Adoption Day is an incredible event that goes beyond just finding homes for our four-legged companions; it’s about touching lives, creating families, and celebrating the immense happiness that comes from giving a deserving dog a fresh start,” says Nicolosi.

Attendees will have the chance to meet dogs, complete adoption applications and undergo screening with their potential new pup’s adoption agency. The free event is from noon to 4 p.m. and open to the general public. Those serious about adopting may want to sign up for an early entry “Golden Ticket” on the organization’s website. The “Golden Ticket” allows entry at 10 a.m. and also offers the opportunity to submit an adoption application in advance. “Golden Ticket” holders are invited to bring along references and other paperwork to streamline the adoption process.

Even previous pets are welcome. Dogs can wait outside the event area at the “doggie check-in” for meet and greets with their potential new brothers and sisters. A rabies certificate and an ID are required.

Participating rescues at this fall’s event include Rhode Home Rescue, Charlestown Animal Shelter, Animal Rescue Kingdom, Save One Soul Animal Rescue League, Friends of Homeless Animals, Anchor Paws, Deez Louise Dogs, RISPCA, Providence Animal Control, South Paws, South Kingstown Animal Shelter, Fetch-Dog Rescue, Cenla Alliance for Animals and others.
