Treasured Twofold

Two is the number of….

Times that I’ve raced in the Head of the Charles.
Professional massages that I’ve had.
Times that I’ve tried sea urchin roe.
Cities abroad that I have visited.
Times that I have dined at the Providence Art Club.

All special occasions in themselves.

Today will be a memorable one for two reasons. One: Because we said ‘so long’ to Pippa, who sets off for Block Island soon (read Pippa’s farewell blog). Bon voyage, Pippa! We will miss you!

And, two: Because I ate lunch at Providence Art Club. It’s such an awesome place and a true historic treasure (est. 1880) to the city and our state. But it is also still a club, and unless you are a member, you dine there (if ever you get the chance to, do not miss their jonnycakes) by invitation only.

To all the uninitiated art and theater lovers, here is your invitation: I heard (from Pippa, of course) that The Gamm is having its super-sophisticated Glam Night fundraiser there tomorrow. It promises to be a dazzling and, indeed, glamorous night in the club’s skylight room and Maxwell Mays Gallery with Providence Art Club’s own chefs serving up their finest hors d’oeuvres and entree samplings and guests posing for red carpet photos (really!) which they’ll project on the ceiling, all to benefit the Sandra-Feinstein Gamm Theatre’s artistic and educational programs. Tickets will be available at the door, or check here for details.
