Throwback Thursday: Munroe Dairy

For #ThrowbackThursday, we’ll take a weekly dip into the archives to show off an image that has appeared in a past issue of Rhode Island Monthly.

Rhode Island Monthly is celebrating twenty-five years. We’ve changed a lot since 1988 (while you’re here, check out our new website), and in some cases, so has the rest of the state. For #ThrowbackThursday, we’ll take a weekly dip into the archives to show off an image that has appeared in a past issue of Rhode Island Monthly. We’ll see what’s changed a lot and what really hasn’t changed all that much.

Since 1881, Munroe Dairy has delivered milk and myriad other items to the doorsteps of Rhode Island and Massachusetts homes. The Munroe drivers, like the one pictured in a vintage photo from the December 2005 edition of Rhode Island Monthly, don’t drive around reindeer-led sleighs, but at this time of year, their cow-patterned trucks deliver festive cheer with their signature eggnog. Munroe’s version of the holiday drink doesn’t skimp on ingredients; theirs is still made with cream and whole milk.
