Fourth Annual Wakefield RiverFire @ Downtown Wakefield/Historic Main Street & Saugatucket River

Thursdays from 5-7 p.m.
Every Thursday evening in the summer season, enjoy magnificent views of the Saugatucket River, as the sun peacefully sets and the wood in the fire basins begin to glow and crackle. Along the river’s edge and Saugatucket Bridge, watch live music from area bands. On Main Street, local vendors will be selling their goods. Downtown shops and restaurants, all in easy walking distance, will be open later than usual. During almost every RiverFire night, additional themes with family-friendly activities will be showcased. The event runs from 5-9 p.m. RiverFire and River Stage performers will begin at 7 p.m.

Free admission. Free parking will be available in the village parking areas and along the street. Please bring a non-perishable food donation for the Jonnycake Center of Peace Dale. On Aug. 16, during the Endless Summer II Luau Celebration, which is on a RiverFire evening.

June 28: Full Moon Night
Live music: River Stage, 7 p.m. – Gary Hopp and Friends: Gary Hopp brings his Good Vibe Tribe Experience to Howl at the Full Moon! Expect great Rock and Roll, Oldies, Country, Originals, Blues, Wild Dancing and Crazy Antics.

July 5: Ladies Night
Live music: River Stage, 7 p.m. – 33 Camben: 33 Camden is a Progressive Rhythm & Blues Rock Fusion band bringing a sound unlike anything you’ve heard! They will be performing LIVE at the Wakefield Ladies Night and RiverFire the day after we celebrate the Birth of our Nation.

July 12: Car Cruise Night (Classic Car Show)
Live music: River Stage, 7 p.m. – Greyhound Dream with gpecial guest Paula Clare: Greyhound Dream Features two of South County’s premier performers Krista Rousseau vocal stylings and Josh Scurman’s vocal and guitar prowess – all rounded out by bass guitarist Jerry Rousseau. Special Guest Paula Clare brings her music influenced by Joni Mitchel, Chrissie Hynde and the Pretenders, Carole King, Emilou Harris and Suzanne Vega to RiverFire.

July 19: Lantern Parade
Live music: River Stage, 7 p.m. – PhenixAve: PhenixAve plays the acoustic hits of the 60’s, 70’s and today and has been a crowd favorite at RiverFire! During the live music performance, “Concrete Couch” presents a serene Lantern Parade across the Saugatucket River Bridge.

Live music: River Stage, 7 p.m. – Gooseberry Road with Special Guests, Wyatt & Barbara Lema: Gooseberry Road is a 3 piece ensemble playing music from the 1960’s and 70’s – Beatles, Carole King, Hollies, Bee Gees, Aztec Two-Step, more, and originals. Enjoy special guests Folk and Traditional multi-instrument and vocalist, Wyatt and Barbara Lema.

Aug. 2: TBA on possible theme
Live music: River Stage, 7 p.m. – Stone Cold Gypsies: Stone Cold Gypsies is a 5-piece band playing a blend of favorites and eclectic music that will surprise and delight you.

Live music: River Stage, 7 p.m. – The Strattones: The Strattones are a 5 piece Rhode Island band bringing you the best covers and originals you didn’t know you needed to hear.

Aug. 16: Endless Summer II (Tropical Luau Celebration – $5 Suggested Donation).
Live music: (TBA) – Just like last year, there will be multiple performers on The Contemporary Theater Stage, which will be the Main Stage for the event. Admission to the extra area is a suggested $5 donation, before passing under a gigantic replica volcano and shark. This allows access to local beer and tropical drinks, Polynesian food, the Main Stage, special guests, entertainers, and more fun, in addition our regular RiverFire event.

Live music: River Stage, 7 p.m. – Grant Maloy Smith: Grant Maloy Smith is an American Roots Singer/Songwriter with a country bent. His songs tell heartfelt stories about real people, and are unfailingly optimistic and forward looking. His latest album “Dust Bowl – American Stories” spent seventeen weeks on the Billboard charts, including 10 weeks in the top ten of the Americana/Folk Album Sales Chart, and reached as high as number twelve on the Country Album Sales Chart, and number two on the Heatseekers Chart (across all genres).

Save One Soul Animal Rescue League (SOSARL) will host Funny 4 Fido, a comedy fundraiser on Saturday, Aug. 25, at the Newport Blues Cafe, on 286 Thames Street in Newport. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m.

The night will include sets from local comedians and live music by “Fast Times.” The evening will also include raffles and auctions, adoptable dogs. The pub menu and cash bar will be available. This is an eighteen and older adult show.

Ticket cost is $20 in advance and $25 at the door. The first 50 tickets sold online will receive a free custom pint glass at the show. All proceeds will support SOSARL’s “No Kill Nation,” programs.

This is a Funny 4 Fund$ comedy night fundraiser.
