The Christiana Carteaux Bannister Awards
Recognizing individuals who are working to empower the community
Rhode Island Monthly, in partnership with the Rhode Island Foundation, is launching the Christiana Carteaux Bannister Awards, named for a philanthropist and successful entrepreneur born into a Black and indigenous family in 1819. This new initiative recognizes outstanding individuals who are working to advance equity and social justice in our state. We invite you to nominate someone who is striving to make a positive difference on behalf of fellow Rhode Islanders and who is helping the community thrive.
Nominees can be recognized in their personal, public or professional capacities. What matters is that their efforts are improving the community and inspiring the rest of us by example.
Nominations will be screened by a panel of community judges. Honorees will be announced in the November issue of Rhode Island Monthly and celebrated at a special event.
The application is open from May 3 – June 30, 2021.
