Taste Test Rhode Island's Theaters

The first ever season kickoff party brings more than thirty Rhode Island theaters together for an afternoon of performances, a costume sale, raffles and more.

Did you know Rhode Island had more than thirty theaters? That's a lot of potential date nights.

This Saturday, August 22, from noon to 6 p.m., Trinity Repertory Company is throwing a huge bash to celebrate the start of the theater season in the state. From the Andean folklorists of New Inca Sun to the pint-sized playwrights of the Manton Avenue Project, this event gathers the region's greatest theater artists, big and small, for an afternoon of free performances inside Trinity Rep and on an outdoor stage in Adrian Hall Way.

Get a sneak peek of the theaters' fall and winter shows, empty your wallet at the prop and costume shoe sale  I call dibs on anything from Barefoot in the Park — and bid on raffles for tickets to upcoming performances. Enjoy food truck eats and an outdoor tape art installation, then take a behind-the-scenes tour of Trinity Rep. The event is open house-style, so theater lovers can come and go as they please.
