Johnson & Wales University has launched a variety of summer camps for ages ranging from kids (ages 8-12) to teens (ages 13-16). From cooking with chefs, getting hands-on experience as a crime scene investigator or exploring careers in culinary arts, hospitality or the sciences, there is a wide variety of options to choose from.
Culinary Kids Camp
Young culinary enthusiasts will participate in a variety of food-focused activities, allowing them to explore the many aspects of food. Some of these activities will include different kitchen cooking and baking techniques as well as methods of sourcing food and various food science experiments.

Culinary Teens Camp
Culinary enthusiasts will participate in a variety of food-focused activities, allowing them to explore the many aspects of food. In the morning, teens will work hands-on in the kitchen, learning different culinary cuisines and cooking techniques. The afternoon sessions will include a look at the pastry arts and the creative, as well as practical aspects, of the “sweet” side of the food world. They will work to understand the global food system and its impact on the world in which we live.

Criminal Justice “CSI” Camp
Taught by JWU’s College of Arts & Sciences Criminal Justice faculty, campers will learn about criminal justice careers through hands-on forensics work, a visit to a famous crime scene and the state lab.

Students will be introduced to general topics in Equine Science and will put theoretical concepts to practical use in the lab and the barn.

Learn about filmmaking and production in our new Center for Media Production space, and be exposed to storytelling, recording and editing techniques that will turn ideas into short films.

Learn computer science skills in a fun, and hands-on way. Under the guidance of JWU’s College of Engineering & Design faculty, attendees will have the chance to use the knowledge of software programming such as Python, and the Raspberry Pi platform.
