StyleWeek Northeast is making its big return for four nights September 20–23 at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence. Runway shows will take place in the Piper and Skye Runway Room in the west lobby of the convention center. The thirteenth season will showcase the spring 2018 collections of designers from around the country including Valentina Oppezzo, Yona Love, Peach Carr of “Project Runway,” Kim Barbieri of Masen Fox, Bianca Jones-Pearson of Clothes Horse Clothing, Reginald Merome of Chevalier-Homme, Jeffrey Dickerson, Melissa Hillas of GypsetGirl, Bridgett Artise of Born Again, Amy DeBlasio, Aiste Zitnikaite of Devinto, Amy Stetkiewicz, Jess Abernethy, Deanna Kuempel of DM Label and Janet Howard.
Each night there will be a cocktail hour and accessory showcase in the Drip Bar Lounge, followed by the runway shows that will focus on the business of fashion and the growth and promotion of the designers taking part. Throughout the years, StyleWeek has promoted 130 emerging and established designers from the Northeast and across the nation.
“We are so excited to announce our return for our thirteenth season,” says Rosanna Ortiz, founder and CEO of StyleWeek Northeast. “After a much-needed hiatus, our team is refreshed and ready to wow the region with a beautiful production featuring designers from our backyard and beyond. We are so thrilled with our new venue choice, the Rhode Island Convention Center, which allows us to expand our audience and their StyleWeek experience.”
This season will also include the SEED Student Design Challenge component, which will highlight capsule collections from five student designers from Rhode Island School of Design, Parsons School of Design, Mass Art and more. This experience gives the students the opportunity to be showcased in a professional trade runway show as well as learn how to cultivate their brand in the industry. They will be judged by a panel of industry insiders on their creation of a three-piece capsule collection, where the winner will receive $1,000 towards their education or funding their own business.
There will also be a memoriam installation on closing night for designer Alexandra Nam, who previously showcased her work with StyleWeek. She died this past July. The installation will honor her work, including her immaculate coat that was worn by the beloved Lady Gaga.
