Saturday Night Lights: Brown v. Harvard

Root, root, root for the home team.

This Saturday, our Brown Bears take on the Harvard Crimson during a rare, under-the-lights night game at Brown Stadium. In the last decade of Ivy openers, Brown won just two games both at home. Gather up your loudest friends and family and help the home team earn one more win against its biggest Ivy League competitor.

We have to warn you: Brown replaced eleven graduating seniors on offense, and their season kicked off last weekend with a sobering loss against Georgetown (17-3). But school spirit is the answer, folks. Even if you're not a huge sports fan, you'll appreciate a night game: crisp fall air, resounding grunts from the field, camaraderie in the stands.

Bundle up, grab a coffee or cider, and scream your head off under the floodlights in support of the Brown Bears. The team will don throwback jerseys to celebrate Brown's 250th anniversary, and fans of all ages won't want to miss the post-game fireworks celebration.

The Details: Sept. 27. 6 p.m. $20 general admission in advance. Brown Stadium, 400 Elmgrove Ave., Providence, 401-863-2773, brownbears.com.
