Rest in Peace, Buddy
A few words from the late prince of Providence, Vincent "Buddy" Cianci.
Goodbye, old friend.
Buddy Cianci, the former mayor of Providence, twice-convicted felon, author, radio host and Renaissance man, died this morning. He was seventy-four.
In 2007, after Buddy was released from federal prison for a felony racketeering conviction, he sat down with Rhode Island Monthly to share, in his own words, his experience at Fort Dix and his outlook on the future.
“I’m very at peace with myself, probably more at peace than I was before prison,” he said. “…I certainly have made mistakes, but I will live my life with the deep conviction that I have made a contribution to the renaissance of this city. The warm reception I have received, the outpouring of support and goodwill, has confirmed that this is my home.”
