Painting the Olympics

Good gig: Local artist Nick Paciorek doesn’t have to sit glued to the telly to catch Olympic action. In fact, Olympic action is how he’s making his living.
Right now, he’s up in (balmy compared to here) Vancouver, painting the huge mountains and dramatic urban shoreline, charming street scenes, inviting ski lifts and, of course, nauseatingly picturesque Whistler Village. It’s not his first Olympic art spree: he was in Torino in 2006, making do amongst the baroque architecture and fabulous food of the Italian Alps. He also paints cityscapes in Boston, Chicago, DC and, yes, Providence – check out his work at his online gallery.
