What to expect: Walk away with a more intimate knowledge of the libations you love. The classes cover basics on the necessary equipment to brew and make wine at home, as well as topics like fermentation and sterilization. Plus, you’ll leave with six bottles of wine or two six-packs of beer to take home (or more for a small additional fee).

Whether creating classic holiday cookies or delicious seasonal breads like panettone and brioche, your lucky recipient will get his or her carb fix with Breadhitz.

What to expect: Depending on the class, Plante will teach you how to make a metal holiday ornament using sawing and stamping techniques, or craft a pearl and crystal earrings and necklace set or a bezel pendant.

Thames Glass Make Your Own Classes
What to expect: This is a hands-on experience for people interested in glass-blowing, with assistance from a professional. Make sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Works of art take two days to cool, so you’ll have to wait to bring home your project or have it delivered by mail.
Details: Call ahead to make an appointment. Payment is due when you book. The cost depends on the item you’re making: $38 for an ornament; $65 for a paperweight; $175 for a vase.

A hand-painted masterpiece
Paint and Vino Classes
What to expect: An artist guides the class in creating a painting, stroke by stroke, while explaining which brushes to use and discussing techniques. While you paint, enjoy two complimentary glasses of wine, beer or soda. The wine and beer is for you to sip, but you can always give away the painting as a gift.
Details: Reserve classes in advance. The cost is $35 per person and each class is two-and-a-half hours long. You will take home a finished painting.
