Happy Friday! What’re your plans for the weekend? If nothing else, I’m hoping to get to a yoga class at the new Shri Studio in downtown Pawtucket. The space (in the McDevitt Building) looks beautiful and at 3,000 square feet it’s the largest yoga studio in the state, according to its owners.

Shri boasts a rather extensive class schedule, including free (donation-based) community sessions every Tuesday. I’ve also got my eye on owner Alison Bologna’s "Urban Bhakti Groove" class, with a faster posture flow, chanting, western music and a longer closing meditation.

The studio plans to deliver on its "urban revitalization yoga" tagline by donating proceeds from some classes to Pawtucket-based charities and, of course, promoting peace and tranquility among attendees. Here’s hoping it also acts as a catalyst for other hip businesses (like Kafe Lila, which has been on Main Street for the last couple years) to set up shop downtown.
