Why: For the first time ever, Newport’s Oktoberfest migrates north to Providence’s India Point Park, bringing with it copious amounts of beer, brats and Bavarian culture. Come for the seasonal brews, stay for the Saturday afternoon storytelling hour, the stein-hoisting competition and live performances by authentic German troupes. Then, take a break from the action — pilsner and big Bavarian pretzel in hand — on a stroll along the leafy Providence waterfront.
