Meet more than 250 dogs and puppies hoping to find homes all in one day at Super Dog Adoption Day. The special event will be held on Nov. 1 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Clark Farms in Matunuck. The nonprofit organization Always Adopt is known for holding large scale dog adoption events, and its mission is to provide a location where attendees can spend time with recue dogs and puppies in an open, comfortable space rather than in the confines of a shelter. This environment also allows dog owners to bring their own family dogs to interact with other adoptable pooches. Some of these dogs have been neglected and need safe homes. Adoption can range from $200-$600, depending on each shelter’s specific fees.
If you already know you’d like to adopt a dog, you can get a jump on the process by getting pre-screened before adoption day. Always Adopt’s common app is an online tool allowing multiple rescues and shelters to approve a single applicant. Visit alwaysadopt.com, and under the Adoptable Dogs tab, you will be able to view pictures and videos of the dogs looking for homes, as well as learn ages, personality traits, breeds, adoption donation amounts and see additional photos. On the site, you can also fill out an adoption application and learn about the pre-screening process.
There are no admission fees to attend Super Dog Adoption day. The only fees are for families beginning the adoption process. The address for Clark Farms is 2984 Commodore Perry Highway, Rt. 1, Matunuck.
