Lighting Up the Met

I’m always on the lookout for new music, and tomorrow night’s Poplight concert at the Met in Pawtucket is a haven for it. Here, eleven of the area’s up-and-coming artists have the chance to perform original songs, while setting a mood and showcasing their different styles. And believe me, there’s a wide range. For starters, there’s Blaze Vestibule, who looks and sounds like he’s from the fifties; Kate Jones, whose ukulele playing perfectly complements her voice; and Sean Kennedy, whose haunting raspy vocals always highlight his set.

Rod Stewart was a grave digger before he hit it big, and by day, the singer/songwriters performing at Poplight work as bartenders, pizza deliverymen and even pharmacists, but they all have the talent to maybe someday quit their day jobs. Check them out before they get famous and boost your Providence indie cred while you’re at it.

Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 the day of. For more information or to purchase tickets, go to
