Kayaking and Noshing at Fogland Beach
You can now rent kayaks and order from a local food truck on the weekends at the Tiverton beach that's popular with nature lovers.

Fogland Beach in Tiverton has long been a favorite of water lovers looking for a quieter experience.
Located on a small peninsula that juts out into the Sakonnet River, the beach has a protected cove on the northern side that attracts kayakers and windsurfers looking to catch a glimpse of an egret or a heron stopping by the nearby conservation area.
But if you don’t have your own kayak, now you can rent them at Fogland Beach. Osprey Sea Kayak Adventures, which is based in Westport, has set up a rental trailer for kayaks and paddleboards at the beach. The company is also working with the town of Tiverton to provide lessons to kids.
“It’s a great venue,” says Sam Ladd, the director of operations for Osprey. The protected cove area is good for beginners, while the river side of the beach provides more of an ocean feel for more experienced kayakers and paddleboarders, she says.

A two-hour-rental for $25 gives kayakers plenty of time to paddle around the peninsula, explore the cove and return, Ladd says.
Single and double kayaks and paddleboards are available for rent on weekends from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., but Osprey plans to expand to Thursday and Friday as the season gets busier. You can call Osprey to reserve a kayak or paddleboard at 508-636-0300.

And if you’ve worked up an appetite with all that paddling, there’s also a locally sourced food truck based out of Tiverton that is working at Fogland on weekends and exceptional beach days this summer.
“It is pretty removed, unless you brought that cooler, you’re kind of out of luck,” Ladd says.
David Kirshner, who own the Locavore food truck, says he gets to the beach at about 11 a.m. and is ready to serve by lunch. He changes up his menu based on where he is, and says his chicken salad sandwich has been so popular at the beach that he’s renamed it the Fogland Favorite. He also serves gourmet burgers and fish.
Fogland Beach is located at Fogland Road and Three Rod Way in Tiverton. Parking is $10 on weekdays and $15 on weekends and holidays.
