Nothing But the Best

A record crowd of 900-plus turned out this year for Rhode Island Monthly’s annual Best of Rhode Island celebration. Revelers partied at the Providence Performing Arts Center, enjoying a spread by Pinelli Marra, SKYY Vodka martinis, music by the East Side Horns and a first look at this year’s 284 award winners. Even better, the bash raised more than $10,000 for ArtReach, a local arts education initiative.

Music to My Ears

Thanks to a standout performance by Icelandic tenor Gardar Thor Cortes and an abundance of Bacardi mojitos, rain did nothing to dampen the mood at this year’s Newport Music Festival gala. A crowd of 500 gathered at the Breakers and helped net $100,000 for the organization. Celebrating its fortieth season, the festival presents dozens of chamber music concerts each July in Newport’s famed mansions.
