India Restaurant Is Continuing 100 Free Takeout Meals Per Day for People in Need
The meals will be offered daily from 2 to 5 p.m. throughout January and include a choice of a chicken or vegan entree.
India restaurant in Providence was one of the first places to offer more than 3,000 free meals to frontliners when the pandemic first hit the area this past spring. They recently offered a newer promotion of 100 free meals per day for people in need throughout the month of December, and decided to extend the offer into January. After distributing 2,500 free meals in December, they want to keep it going. The free meals are for people who have been negatively affected by COVID-19, whether it’s from job loss or something else. The meals will be offered daily from 2 to 5 p.m. Choices for healthy, hot meals include chicken and vegan entrees.
“We have seen so many people lose their jobs or struggle through these difficult times. We feel blessed to have the ability to feed people. Due to that, during the month of January, we would like to offer 100 free healthy meals every day to those struggling,” reads a statement from India restaurant, which has been open on Hope Street in Providence for more than twenty-five years. “As we look back, one thing is sure that the continued support of our patrons has been the bright spot for us in this unprecedented year.
