Give & Glam: A Perfect Girls' Night Out

Next Thursday night is the ultimate girls’ night out! Give & Glam, happening on Oct. 4 from 6-9 p.m., combines shopping, cocktails and charity in a gorgeous oceanside setting, Belle Mer on Newport’s Goat Island. The charity-focused shopping, fashion and beauty event is hosted by local television news reporter Julie Ruditzky Loffredi, and it involves dozens of vendors featuring everything from handbags and jewelry to clothing and perfume.

Some of our favorite Rhode Island vendors include Best of Rhode Island 2012 winner Kendra Phillip jewelry, Kent Stetson and Forte Fashion handbags, and Haute Tags dog tags customized for your Twitter handle. The $35 ticket price includes access to all of the designers and vendors, plus hors d’oeurves, a cash bar, a fashion show, mini-makeovers, hair and makeup tips from makeup artists and stylists, and a limited number of swag bags given to the first 100 people who walk through the door. The Fashion Truck will also be there (yes, you read that right; a truck that serves up fashion)!

Better yet, your shopping obsession will go toward the greater good. Give & Glam supports multiple charities through donating a portion of ticket sales and/or helping to raise awareness about them. “Charities, especially in Rhode Island, are having a hard time getting their messages out,” Julie says. “Our goal is to raise awareness by throwing amazing, fun beauty and fashion events while at the same time giving back to several charities.”

Charities that Give & Glam is promoting and supporting include Hasbro Children’s Hospital’s Dream Big Calendar Launch, Shri Service Corps (offering yoga for city youth), Look Good—Feel Better (raising quality of life for those in cancer treatment), Friends of Ballard Park (protecting Newport’s nature preserve) and Sojourner House (supporting domestic violence victims).

”I want to create more opportunities to get the message out to women about charities in our own backyard,” says Julie. “What better way to do that than by also highlighting the best in beauty and fashion?”

So go ahead and get all dolled up for a good cause. You’ll also meet powerful women from Rhode Island businesses and media personalities, making it a prime networking opportunity. Don’t forget to dress up, wear those shoes you’ve been waiting to rock and pose on the pink carpet for the paparazzi!
