1/31–2/2 Monster Jam

Why: Monster Jam Triple Threat Series roars into Providence for an adrenaline-charged family fun day. The event showcases drivers as they go head-to-head in seven different competitions, driving three different vehicles — Monster Jam trucks, speedsters and ATVs — while racing, doing doughnuts, wheelies and more.

2/1–29 Best Doughnuts RI

Why: Doughnut worry, be happy — Best Doughnuts is back again. Purchase a passport from Rhode Island Food Fights, which celebrates two of everybody’s favorite things: local food and some friendly competition. Each passport features coupons good for one free doughnut from each participating place throughout the state. Then, vote for your favorite and see who is crowned the best of the best.

2/7 Nature’s Valentines

Why: What makes your heart beat? Is it the sights and sounds of this big, beautiful world we live in? Bring the kiddos to Caratunk to create valentines inspired by nature. Children will use nuts, twigs, rocks, seeds and other natural items to create one-of-a-kind valentines for someone special. Each child will create a total of six valentine cards. 2/22–23 Beach Polo

Why: Newport Polo returns to Sachuest Beach for matches by the sea. The event features teams competing in a match composed of four chukkers (periods of play) for an hour during low tide at the beach. Bring a non-perishable food donation or toiletry items to be donated to a local community food bank.

Through 3/1 Ice Skating at Gurney’s

Why: Skate by the sea with uninterrupted views of beautiful Narragansett Bay. Then, warm up inside and grab a bite to eat off the Apres Skate menu, with options including cheese fondue, chili cornbread, spiked cider and more. Guests who “donate to skate” by bringing a piece of clothing for Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Rhode Island receive complimentary skate rentals.
