Join Metcalf Institute for the 2018 Annual Public Lecture Series featuring top experts in the science, policy, and public engagement of environmental issues. The lectures coincide with the Institute’s internationally recognized Annual Science Immersion Workshop that brings journalist to URI from around the world. This year’s lecture series focuses on the connection between climate change and extreme weather, economic impacts of climate change, and risk reduction and mitigation through innovation. The audience will also learn how journalists are using immersive storytelling techniques such as virtual reality and 360 video to bring people closer to the environmental issues they cover.
The lectures begin at 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and at 11 a.m. on Friday.
The public is also invited to celebrate Metcalf Institute’s 20th anniversary at receptions held Monday – Thursday, immediately following the lectures.
