2018 Summer Outdoor Movie Series Schedules

These flicks can be seen from a lawn chair, on a blanket or from your car, under the stars.

 

Grab your friends and family, a picnic blanket and some snacks and check out the numerous venues all over the state that offer outdoor movie screenings in fields, beaches and parks.

 

NewportFILM Outdoors on Aquidneck Island

Experience more than just a typical movie night with NewportFILM’s outdoor summer movie series. On select Thursdays this summer, join NewportFILM for award-winning documentaries, live music, on-site food vendors and q-and-a sessions amongst Aquidneck Island’s most beautiful outdoor spaces! Food vendors will be open and live music will be performed before the start of the films, so claim your spot, grab some tasty treats and enjoy a summer night under the stars. Movies including Science Fair, Chef Flynn, Life in the Doghouse and more will be shown. Confirmed viewing locations this year will include St. George’s School lawn, Rough Point, Belle Mer, the Newport Art Museum and more.

Movies in the Park at Roger Williams Park 

On select Fridays in August, enjoy entertainment under the stars at the Roger Williams Park Boathouse Lawn. Food trucks will be on site, so enjoy food truck fare before you watch a film about the transformative power of music in Landfill Harmonic or the world’s most famous clan in the Muppets.

Movies at the Park at Rocky Point

Don’t miss out on this family friendly movie night with views of Narragansett Bay! Bring blankets, pile the kiddos into the car and drive to Rocky Point Park for a summer night that the whole family will enjoy. Forget to pack snacks? Don’t sweat it – food trucks will be serving shaved ice, food truck fare from Open Season and Haven Bros. and more.

Showtimes: Movie begins at dusk. Thurs., Aug. 23, Despicable Me 3.

Movies on the Beach at Narragansett Town Beach

Listen to the waves crash and breathe in the salty ocean air as you watch summer classics at Narragansett Town Beach. Can you bear to stand the though that only a few hundred feet away Jaws may be lurking in the ocean water? Plus, grab a bit to eat at one of the many food trucks that will be on site.

Showtimes: Movies begin at dusk. Aug. 8, Angels in the Outfield; Aug. 15, Jaws.

Misquamicut Drive-In

Head to Misquamicut for a night at the Drive-In. Pack some lawn chairs or bring a blanket to curl up in from the comfort of your own car. Tune in the radio to watch family favorites including Caddyshack, Happy Gilmore, Jurassic Park and more.

Rustic Tri Vue Drive-In 

Travel back in time with your family as you head to the Rustic Drive-In for a night of not one, but two movies! Now open every night, the Drive-In will feature movies for all ages from Disney’s Christopher Robin to Equalizer 2. Pack some snacks and don’t forget the candy, but don’t worry about the popcorn – the drive-in snack bar has you covered. Tip: If you own a pick-up truck, pack some blankets and lounge in the bed of the truck for the ultimate double feature movie experience.

Movies on the Rocks at Ballard Park 

Watch Rocky on the rocks or other hits including the Princess Bride and Bambi in Rhode Island’s own backyard! The Rocks at Ballard Park will be showcasing select movies on Wednesdays in their big grassy field. Bring a blanket, sit back and enjoy. Arrive fifteen minutes before the start of the movie to ensure a place to sit and allow yourself time to walk to the quarry meadow.

Showtimes: Select Wednesday nights at dusk. Aug. 8, Rocky; Aug. 15, the Princess Bride; Aug. 22, Bambi.

Movies in the Park at Crescent Park Looff Carousel

After a ride (or two!) on the Looff Carousel at Crescent Park and a few clam cakes and chowdah’ from Blount Clam Shack, head on over to the grassy field beside the carousel for a family-fun movie night in the park. Make sure to pack a blanket and some bug spray as you head down the rabbit hole with Peter Rabbit! Plus, free popcorn will be provided.

Showtimes: Select Fridays in Aug. and Sept. Movies being at dusk. Aug. 24, Peter Rabbit; Sept. 14, Paddington 2.
