Rhode Island restaurants are pulling together some pretty creative patios out of a tough situation. From turning sidewalks into quaint outdoor cafes to transforming parking lots into al fresco adventures, here are some of our favorite spots to enjoy outdoor dining well into the fall. Many spots have installed outdoor heaters, and they are all encouraging guests to bundle up and bring a blanket for Rhode Island Hospitality Association’s #BYOBlanket campaign. No matter which place you choose, remember to have a face mask with you, and social distance as much as possible.
Bywater has turned its former “parking lot patio,” into a full outdoor restaurant, complete with a fire pit and cozy benches with blankets in the middle and individual heaters for each table. The menu includes local seafood like cioppino and scallops over fresh pasta with pancetta as well as comfort food dishes like burgers and steaks (and sometimes poutine!) with sides and salads that involve local farm ingredients. Twinkle lights hang overhead for a glowing atmosphere near the Warren waterfront.
