Hey Rhode Island! We are so excited to share that on March 24th, 2018 Healthcare Revolt will be hosting our first ever fundraising event! The event will include live music from the The Horse-Eyed Men, raffles, games, live jazz, a silent auction and a short address from Dr. Fine, former director of the Department of Health, addressing the need for change and our plans for the Rhode Island health care system. We hope many of you can attend and be a part of a new, community-focused chapter of health care in Rhode Island. Tickets will go on sale February 1st, so keep an eye out. We are looking forward to organizing and mobilizing with our community — all the while enjoying each other’s company.
Healthcare Revolt is a Rhode Island organized effort in partnership with the George Wiley Center to build a health care system that is for people, not profit. We are organizing health care workers and RI citizens to fight for better patient care in their hospitals, community health centers and practices. We want to build systems of care in each Rhode Island community that are run by and for community members. This includes a plan to provide public, free primary health care for every single Rhode Islander. We’ve already begun in Central Falls where Michael Fine M.D., former director of the Department of Health, has partnered with Blackstone Valley Community Healthcare Inc. to produce the first U.S. population-based primary care establishment that serves an entire neighborhood.
Create population-focused healthcare by uniting health care workers to de-industrialize their professional lives.
Allow this united group to lead communities in building multidisciplinary teams and Neighborhood Health Stations. When a critical mass of Neighborhood Health Stations exist, modify existing state law to create the Rhode Island Primary Care Trust, a sustainable financing vehicle for Neighborhood Health Stations and for free, public primary care health services.
