The HairBrained exhibition features a selection of items from Providence Public Library’s collections: postcards, photographs, pochoir prints, magazines, historic children’s books, advertising trade cards and more. Items will be on exhibit in the Providence Journal Rhode Island Room on level one from March to June.

Then, you will have an opportunity to ask a question or open up a topic to consult your spirit guides. Next, we will draw the cards and interpret the meanings and symbolism together. The session ends with a closing meditation.

Join us at Linden Place Mansion to arrange your May flowers

On Wednesday, May 30, Linden Place Mansion will be hosting a floral design workshop with the Little State Flower Company and Studio Choo East. The event will take place in Linden Place’s historic ballroom. Floral design workshop taught by Little State Flower Co and Studio Choo East hosted in the gorgeous historic barn at Linden Place. The event will take place on Wednesday, May 30 from 6-8 p.m.

Participants will be designing with 100 percent local flowers and foliage grown in Portsmouth, RI. Flowers that will be highlighted are as follows: airy spring blooms such as poppies, higella, sweet peas, ranunculus, anemone and more! These flowers are not seen at local grocery stores and rarely get the opportunity to be designed with. Participants will learn how to build a vase with our perennial foliage’s and herbs to incorporate the delicate nature of the season flower options available.

Little State Flower Company is the largest wholesale local and sustainable flower farm in RI. It is a five-acre specialty-cut flower farm based on Aquidneck Island in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. Little State focuses on sustainable, environmentally-friendly growing practices in an effort to create local, healthy options for the wedding and event industry in and around Rhode Island. Little State Flower Co is the largest wholesale local and sustainable flower farm in Rhode Island and Studio Choo East is one of the hottest floral designers in the country! Participants will be designing with 100% local flowers and foliage grown in Portsmouth.

Wednesday Walk-arounds: A Guided Tour of Blithewold begin at 11:30 a.m. Docents tell the story of the Van Wickle and McKee family, the original owners of this beautiful seaside garden estate. Visitors experience breathtaking views of Narragansett Bay and see the Mansion decorated with original furnishings just as it was when the family lived here. The guided tour continues through the grounds where magnificent trees and a variety of colorful gardens demonstrate Blithewold’s prominence in horticulture. This tour concludes with a question and answer, complete with iced tea served on Blithewold’s North West Porch.

The event costs $6 per person in addition to regular admission. Tours are capped at a maximum of fifteen people.
