StyleWeek Kicks Off Tonight with Five Nights of Fashion
This eleventh season, the catwalk will be set up in a brand new location, the ballroom at the Providence G Building from Sept. 14-18.
StyleWeek’s Spring 2016 shows promise to dress up Providence in stunning looks from local designers. This eleventh season, the catwalk will be set up in a brand new location, the ballroom at the Providence G Building (100 Dorrance St.) from Sept. 14-18. The Accessory Showcase is always free and open to the public, and this year, it will be held at the Paolino Properties storefront at 82 Weybosset Street beginning at 5:30 p.m. each day. Find jewelry, skincare products, handbags, handmade scarves and more from Flaunt Boutique, D’Andrea, Java Skincare, Dylanium Knits, Touchstone Crystal by Swarovski, Kezi and more.
StyleWeek features a vast array of emerging and established designers and always includes participation from “Project Runway” alum Jonathan Joseph Peters (Friday), which is already a sold-out show. Monday is also sold out. Tickets are still available for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights.
This season, new designers include Clothes Horse Clothing, with colorful styles that are a mix of pinup cuts, flowy ‘70s-style gowns, as well as dresses with a Disney princess vibe. Italian designer Valentina Oppezzo brings her photography perspective to her label Instilla. Her designs are sporty, colorful and with unexpected touches of spontaneity that make them truly one-of-a-kind. Recent Rhode Island School of Design graduate Chaz Aracil’s take on haute couture both distorts “normal” ideals of elegance and proportions of the female figure to bring works of art to the runway. Other new designers include Mode Merr, Jeffrey Dickerson and EVOLUE Apparel. StyleWeek veterans returning to the runway include Antwan Byrd, Earl Battle, Angelica Timas, Sarah Prost, Carissa Lynne Frazier, Jess Abernethy, Amy Stetkiewicz, Samuel Vartan and Jonathan Joseph Peters.
In addition to the catwalk, there will also be cocktails and two glamorous after parties sponsored by YotMe and Ripple. Don’t miss the chance to glimpse the latest rising stars in fashion and to mingle with style aficionados making their way to Providence for this event.
The Details: Sept. 14–18. 5:30–9 p.m. Tickets range from $65 to $85 per person (plus fees). Tickets include complimentary valet at 82 Weybosset St. and free admission to the closing night party, plus 15 percent off select local restaurants. Front row tickets also get one free drink voucher at check-in. The location of the shows is at the Ballroom at Providence G, 100 Dorrance St., Providence.
