Like father, like daughter: Cumberland native Amanda Doumato inherited her obsession with bling from her dad. Ephraim Doumato has owned Doumato Jewelers in Smithfield for thirty-seven years, and his daughter grew up working in the store. Ten years ago, he proposed she open Flaunt Boutique right next door. The two spaces are joined by an open doorway and share a peacock theme — a symbol of pride — that appears on their logos and in the wallpaper on Flaunt’s walls. The two stores are moving to a larger location down the street in Smithfield in the late spring.

Flaunt Boutique stocks fashionable jewelry, runway-ready clothing, natural beauty products and quirky accessories, most with a Rhode Island connection. “It’s really important to me to support other local businesses and jewelry companies,” Doumato says.

She’s often decked out in the very clothing, jewelry and handbags that she sells at her shop. Flaunt Boutique is one of the only retail locations where shoppers can try on pieces from StyleWeek designers Jess Abernethy and Jeffrey Dickerson, who have both shown at the biannual fashion week that returns to the Rhode Island Convention Center February 21 to 24.

From conversation piece Kent Stetson clutches and Andrea Valentini’s bubble-patterned sustainable handbags to locally made charms and bracelets, Doumato explains that where you shop makes a difference. “We all get caught up in the world of Amazon or Target,” she says, “but if you change your mentality and shop locally, you are giving back because you are helping a local business and the community.” 19 Sanderson Rd., Smithfield, 401-949-4849, flauntri.com
