Rainbow Bagels, Cadbury Creme Donuts, Chocolate Eggspressos and Jelly Bean Macarons, Oh My!

Local bakeries and one coffee house have upped their games for Easter with special limited edition treats.

Easter treats abound this week! Our local bakeries and coffee shops are pulling out all the stops to come up with the most creative sweets and snacks (and one drink!) to satisfy our sugar cravings. Here are three fanciful food items not to miss:

1. Rainbow Bagels
Providence Bagel is creating rainbow bagels with housemade funfetti cream cheese for today through Sunday. The dough is mixed with pink, blue and yellow coloring and the cream cheese features rainbow sprinkles! Limited numbers are available each day. 695 North Main St., Providence, 401-421-2222, providencebagel.com

2. Coffee Eggspressos
The Nook Coffee House in East Greenwich has created an eggscellent new drink that includes a hollow German chocolate egg for Easter. When you pour hot espresso over it, it melts into a rich cup of mocha! “I pour the hot espresso into the egg, and it melts so quickly that when they stir it, it’s like a chocolate espresso shot,” says the Nook’s owner Shannon Wylie. “I was trying to think about something different and decadent to change up the normal drinks we offer and to include the holiday.” It’s available through Easter. 307 Main St., East Greenwich, 401-402-0029, nookcoffeehouse.com

3. The Cadbury Creme Donut
PVDonuts’ “signature brioche dough is filled with marshmallow (made in house!) and topped with chocolate glaze.” Available throughout April. 79 Ives St., Providence, pvdonuts.com

4. Jelly Bean Macarons
Ellie’s Bakery dove into bags of jelly beans to decide their favorite flavors, then created and named French macarons after them. The macarons come in varieties including Root Beer, Buttered Popcorn and Tutti Frutti, available throughout the month of April. “We then splatter-painted the cookies in nostalgic hues reminiscent of the theme!” according to the Ellie’s Bakery’s Facebook page. Pick them up at the bakery or pre-order them. 61 Washington St., Providence, 401-228-8118, elliesbakery.com
