Newsflash! There are no kids allowed at the Providence Children’s Museum on Saturday, May 12 from 7 to 10 p.m. Play On! A Night Out for “Big Kids is an adult-only event will allow the “kids at heart” to be curious and explore the museum. Some of the exhibits open that night will include the power of air, the construction of water and mist fountains, puzzle-solving activities and more.

A number of food trucks, like Elwood’s Dog House, Incred-A-Bowl, Red’s Street Kitchen and Sarcastic Sweets, will provide the grub for the evening. The event is twenty-one-plus, so beer and wine will be available for purchase at the Museum’s Beer Garden and Wine Bar. While you’re enjoying good food and drink, talking to friends and roaming the museum, live music by Aubrey Atwater, Benny Banning, Christian Calderone, Nate Cozzollino, Ryan Jackson and The Vox Hunters will play throughout the evening.

Not only will this night be a social and educational night, you might be a lucky winner of one of the amazing prizes. Some of these prizes include two tickets to the Broadway hit, Something Rotten, playing at the Providence Performing Arts Center, a VIP barbecue package for fifteen guests from the Pawtucket Red Sox, a six-person ride from La Gondola Providence, board games from Thames and Kosmos, gift cards to Central Rock Gym and so many more awesome items.

Tickets, purchased in advance on the website, are $15 for members and $20 for nonmembers. Tickets will only be sold prior to the event until Friday, May 11 at 5 p.m. Tickets at the door are $25. Proceeds from the night will help raise awareness of the importance of play for children’s healthy development. Proceeds will also help maintain the Providence Children’s Museum’s exhibits and educational programming. childrenmuseum.org/playon.asp
