Mindaugas Bauzys Takes a Bow
The Festival Ballet vet now teaches company dancers.
Mindaugas Bauzys was well acquainted with the stage when he made his final performance with Festival Ballet in Providence earlier this year. He began dancing professionally in 1990 in his native Lithuania and had completed eight seasons with Festival Ballet before deciding to retire from the stage in May after performing in Swan Lake. “There’s always that feeling of anticipation before you go on the stage,” says Bauzys. “And then when you go on stage, everything is good.” Company members and members of the audience came to see Bauzys’s last performance at the Vets. “It was a special night,” Bauzys says. Since then, he’s moved into a new role as ballet master, coaching Festival Ballet’s current company of dancers, who you can see performing this month in The Nutcracker at Providence Performing Arts Center from December 16 to 18.
