Trad Arts Studio at Slater Mill is just the place to learn some new skills, or expand on those you may already have. On Wednesday Evenings & Saturday Mornings starting on March 31, historic Slater Mill transforms into a studio for learning contemporary art.
Hand Weaving: Lifetime artist & production weaver Suzi Ballenger teaches all levels of weaving in an open studio format on Saturday Mornings. We provide the Harrison Loom. March 31 – June 9 (ten weeks)
Wheel Spinning: Beth Fitzpatrick, President of the Rhode Island Spinners Guild, teaches beginners on Saturday mornings. Students are provided a rental wheel and ample roving. March 31 – April 28 (five weeks)
Chair Caning: Master craftsman Steve Emma teaches open-studio chair caning on Wednesday evenings. All levels welcome, you provide the chair & tools, he provides the rush & reeds. April 11 – May 16 (six weeks)
Beginners Knitting: On Wednesday evenings, pattern designer & knit instructor Pam Sluter teaches beginners solid foundations on which to build their knitting futures. April 11 – May 16 (six weeks)
